February 2014, West Chester, PA. Theraplay, Inc. has had the opportunity to partner with medical schools and health care networks to offer observation programs for medical students and residents in all of our centers. During this observation time, the resident/medical student has the opportunity to observe a physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and feeding session. The program gives the future physician a better understanding of pediatric therapy services, when it would be appropriate to refer patients for therapy services and the benefits for the patient. As an extension of this program, we also participate in general education by providing in-services for Grand Rounds and Noon Conferences.
We are currently affiliated with Einstein Healthcare Network, Crozer-Keystone Health System, Mercy Health System, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chestnut Hill Hospital Family Practice Residency Program, Gwynedd Mercy University School of Nursing and Health Professions and Allied Health.
A Resident’ Perspective
“Theraplay’s Medical Student and Resident Observation program is extremely helpful and informative to all who participate. It provides you with the opportunity to observe all facets of the evaluation and therapy processes; it is very interesting to see how extensive the progress made in one session can be. Information learned prepares one when consulting with families during office visits and increases confidence when answering difficult questions. Theraplay is a wonderful place and I have gained a deeper appreciation for all of the services provided. I hope to continue to foster our relationship and to refer patients to this practice!”
