Doylestown Location and Staff Theraplay's Doylestown center and staff on opening day!

May 2017, Doylestown, PA. Theraplay, Inc., was founded in 1991 by physical therapist Lisa Mackell to answer a growing need for quality pediatric therapy. Starting out of her home, Mackell opened Theraplay’s first outpatient center in Malvern, PA in 1996. Today, they are the region’s leading provider of pediatric physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Theraplay also offers feeding and concussion rehabilitation programs, as well as special instruction, early intervention and school services.

Over the past 26 years, Theraplay has continued to grow, meeting the demand for therapy by opening new centers and expanding existing centers to accommodate patients. Their newest center is located in Doylestown, PA, at 739 North Easton Road, and is led by center manager Amy Bignault, SLP. Amy has been a speech-language pathologist for 20 years, joining Theraplay in 2013. She attended Northwestern University where she received a B.S. in speech-language pathology, and received her M.S. from Vanderbilt University. Most recently, Amy was the recipient of the American Speech and Hearing Association’s Award for Continuing Education (ACE) in November 2016.

The Doylestown office opened on May 8, 2017 and sees patients from birth to 21 for a variety of physical, occupational, and speech therapy feeding needs, as well as feeding and concussion rehabilitation programs, and therapeutic and social skills groups. Says Samantha Gorrell, DPT, and Senior Director of Outpatient Services: “We are so very excited to be opening our 10th outpatient therapy center in Doylestown. We have been serving the Doylestown community through a few of Theraplay’s neighboring clinics. Many families traveled a distance to receive our services, so it is with great happiness that we are able to open in an area that would greatly benefit from our services.”

With the opening of this tenth outpatient center, Theraplay continues to provide crucial services for countless children and their families.
